Q: What is RISE?
A: RISE is a free after-school nonprofit program that teaches middle school students (grades 6–8) real-world business and financial skills through fun, hands-on activities like creating and pitching their own business ideas.
Q: Who can join the program?
A: Students in grades 6–8 from all backgrounds are welcome to apply. We especially encourage students from underserved communities to join.
Q: Where does the program take place?

Q: What days and times are classes held?

Curriculum & Activities

How to create and pitch their own business idea in a Shark Tank-style competition
Q: Is the program mostly lectures?
A: No! We believe in learning by doing. Students will play games, roleplay as entrepreneurs, build mini-businesses, and participate in fun challenges.
Q: What’s the final project?
A: Students will pitch their business idea to a panel of judges at our RISE Pitch Showcase, with awards for creativity, presentation, and financial planning.

Q: Is this program free?
A: Yes, 100% free thanks to generous donations and community partners.
Q: How do I register my child?
A: You can sign up through our website or by filling out the registration form sent home with students. Registration is first-come, first-served.
Q: What should my child bring?
A: Just curiosity and energy! We provide all materials, but students are welcome to bring their own notebook or tablet.
Q: Is attendance mandatory?
A: Consistent attendance is expected so students can complete their business projects with their team, but we understand occasional absences happen.
Q: Will snacks be provided?
A: Yes, light snacks are offered at each session.
